Mentoring
Keeping students engaged and interested in learning can be a challenge. NAAF encourages the older students in its programs, as well as graduates of our programs, to mentor younger students. Many volunteers and professionals from the community also serve as mentors in NAAF programs.

Working with a mentor is one of the most effective ways for kids to learn, because knowing the person helping you has been through the same or similar situations makes the process seem less daunting. There is also a comradery and trust that grows between mentor and mentee that can't be matched. Not only do the younger students benefit, but the mentors themselves learn leadership skills, and often gain a sense of purpose or even calling in providing mentorship.
